Grief and bereavement
My core specialty. I'm a Certified Grief Counselor (GC-C), which means I've trained specifically in this work — not just folded it into a general practice. I work with all kinds of loss: death of a loved one, anticipatory grief while someone is still alive, ambiguous loss (someone who's there but not really there), pregnancy and infant loss, and the cultural and religious grief that often shapes how we mourn.
• Death of a parent, partner, child, sibling, or close friend
• Anticipatory grief during illness or decline
• Ambiguous loss, including dementia and estrangement
• Pregnancy loss and reproductive grief
• Grief that's complicated by cultural, religious, or family expectations

Anxiety
The kind that runs in the background and the kind that takes over a Tuesday afternoon. We'll look at what's actually happening — in your thoughts, your body, and your life — and build practical ways to respond instead of just bracing. CBT gives us tools; somatic work helps your nervous system catch up to the changes.
iii.
Depression
Depression isn't a character flaw or a lack of effort. We'll work on what's keeping it in place — old patterns, current circumstances, things you might be carrying that aren't yours — and on small, livable changes that build back into something bigger.
iv.
Trauma
Single-incident, ongoing, intergenerational, or all of the above. I work at a pace your nervous system can actually tolerate. We don't force you to retell your worst memories until something snaps — we work with how trauma is showing up in your present life and body, and we move toward the harder material when you're ready.
v.
Life Transitions
Career changes, relationship changes, geographic moves, becoming a parent or choosing not to, leaving a religion, leaving a family system. The in-between is its own thing — not a problem to solve as fast as possible. We'll give it real attention.
vi.
Sexuality, intimacy, and relationship concerns
I work with sex-positive, kink-aware, polyamorous, and LGBTQ+ clients on questions about sexuality, identity, intimacy, and relationships. That includes coming out, religious and family pressure, sexual shame, mismatched desire, opening or closing relationships, navigating non-monogamy, and the way trauma can show up in your sex life.
A note on scope. I am not AASECT-certified, so I don't market this work as "sex therapy." It's part of my LCSW scope and I do it carefully. If your concern needs specialized sex therapy or medical evaluation, I'll say so on the consult and help you find the right person.
vii.
Immigration psychological evaluations
A distinct service line for people in active immigration cases. Comprehensive clinical interviews and a written report tailored to the legal criteria for asylum, VAWA, U-Visa, T-Visa, or Extreme Hardship Waivers. Available in English or Spanish.
Not sure which fits?
The free 15-minute consult exists for exactly that. We'll talk it through and figure out whether I'm the right person — and what we'd actually focus on.
